Ride in circles around the enemies and practice with the bow until you run out of arrows you reduce their numbers by half or more. Attack with lance, shield and bow and arrows. Groups under 10 can be attacked alone or if you have some troops tell them to hold back so you can practice before bring your boys in. At first try to find small weak bands of bandits like looters. A courser is my favorite choice even in late game.Īt the start you really need to pick your battles. Speed keeps enemy mounted troops off you and makes it harder for enemy archers to hit you. I prefer speed over everything else when it comes to a horse. A great lance is ideal and/or a jousting lance since it does blunt damage and allows you to take prisoners for extra cash. Early on my priorities are to acquire two things. I have a starting strategy I’ve used successfully for a few characters. You have 60 days to find their hideout so this should be more than enough time to find a travelling bandit party and track them to their lair. Then it’s just a matter of following them. When they are travelling they are returning directly to their hideout. If they are patrolling they won’t lead you to their hideout either, but if you follow a patrolling group of bandits they will eventually change to travelling. If they’re chasing someone or being chased they won’t lead you to their hideout, ever, so don’t get close enough to make let them notice you.

They’ll be either running from enemies (usually you, if you get too close), chasing enemies if they see someone weaker than them, patrolling, or travelling. When you see a party of bandits mouse over them and you will see what they’re doing.

When you’ve done that you can either scour the area hoping to stumble over the hideout, which is probably not going to work, or you can follow bandits back to their hideout. As bandit parties on the map are eliminated new parties will be spawned near the hideout so after a week or two the bandit hideout area should have noticably more bandits. To find bandit hideouts the first step is to find where there are most bandits.
